Montauk Point Lighthouse

The Montauk Point Lighthouse is the oldest in the whole State of New York dating back to 1796. You can visit and climb the 137 steps to the very top for a view of the area. montauklighthouse.com, 631-668-2544.

Execution Rocks Light Station

This Lighthouse can only be accessed by boat. It’s located in the LI Sound near Sands Point. Tours must be arranged in advance. You can even book an overnight stay! Travel light as you have to carry everything on with you. Some say this Lighthouse is haunted.

Horton Point Lighthouse and Nautical Museum, Southold

This Lighthouse has a museum with a whale exhibit.
It is located at the end of Lighthouse Road, Southold, southoldhistoricalsociety.org, 631-765-5500.

Huntington Harbor Lighthouse

This Lighthouse, standing since 1912, has just reopened to the public after a 2-year foundation renovation. Guided boat tours are available in the summer. Call or visit the website for more information, huntingtonlighthouse.org, 631-421-1985.

Long Beach Bar “Bug Light”

This Lighthouse offers views of the Peconic Bay from its wraparound deck. East End Seaport Museum in Greenport offers boat tours while lighthouse tours are given by Greenporter Bob Allen, whose great-grandfather was the island’s last live-in keeper.

Fire Island Lighthouse, Fire Island National Seashore

There is a lot to learn here in the Keeper’s Quarters Museum and gift shop and the Fresnel lens building. The view from the 192 step tower is stunning.
It is located about a one-mile walk east of Robert Moses State Park, Field 5, Fire Island, 631-661-4876, fireislandlighthouse.com.
